On my mission, we learned about triangles.
In General Conference last year we learned about triangles.
Here is how a triangle and marriage go together:
Notice the triangle is an equilateral. All sides are the same length… as long as the husband and wife are reaching towards the same goal (heaven) or have God in their lives the triangle stays constant. If however, one side doesn’t stay constant the triangle’s sides are no longer equal and the husband and wife are no longer reaching towards the same goal.
I can’t seem to find the conference talk at the moment… but I did find a Priesthood Lesson regarding it.
From that lesson, I found the following comparrison to be interesting and of importance:
Differences between Civil Marriage and Celestial Marriage:
Civil Marriage: Contract for Time
1. Home, church, office, almost anywhere
2. Justice of the peace, minister, judge, bishop
3. Until death
4. Single, servant to others
5. No claim on our familyCelestial Marriage: Covenant for Eternity
1. Sacred sealing room in the temple
2. One having sealing power from the prophet of the Lord
3. For time and eternity
4. Gods and goddesses
5. A family unit forever
So there we have it. Personally, I’m very grateful to be married for Time and All Eternity.
